Modeled with the inspiration of a sundial, Always/Never is a light installation piece created by United Visual Artists. Always/Never is composed of timber, powder coated steel and LED lights all encoded with an algorithm to animate the triangular shapes protruding from the walls and forms shadows, ultimately fabricating illusions of fluid and solid surfaces. The artists stated:
The work aims to demonstrate how passing units of time are somewhat artificial and highly relative. The viewer’s perceptions of time will therefore be subtly altered by a different system of time measurement to what they have previously encountered.
